Dan got his first taste of farm life as a young child, while attending the Still Family reunions in Manitoba. There he fed pigs, collected eggs, and jumped off hay bales. His grandparents in Thunder Bay showed him all about growing veggies in their highly productive kitchen garden.

As an adult Dan spent some time working on farms throughout Argentina. Upon returning to Canada, he volunteered with food related non-profits, and worked places ranging from biodynamic sheep to organic vegetable farms, from agronomy research stations to part of a federal plant breeding program. He graduated with a Diploma in Agriculture from the University of Guelph, Kemptville Campus.

Kara grew up on a farm in Southwestern Ontario. She works full time off the farm and tends to our small flock of chickens and ducks. She is a Jill-of-all-Trades, whether it’s rebuilding the original storm windows, knitting mittens for the kids or fixing up broken down mower decks.

The kids pitch in around the farm and enjoy country living. They do everything from feeding animals and washing veggies, to catching toads and riding bikes.

Autumn is our wonderful family dog. She is always looking out for the kids and our chickens and has become very adept at stealing veggies from the garden.
